While all the buzz for the last few months has centered on NCWorks Online, the one-stop online resource for job-seekers and employers in North Carolina, we wanted to remind you that the heart and soul of Charlotte Works lies in human interaction: empowerment through the sharing of information, encouragement from your peers, engagement with experts in their fields. It’s the networking, the job search teams, the one-on-one coaching sessions and, most importantly, our workshops, that foster the dynamic atmosphere so unique to this location.
We’re always working to facilitate events that will provide you with the best tools available for your job search. This November, we’ve assembled some fascinating workshops, including one that will give you an insider’s view on applying for a job with one of the area’s largest employers. There’s also a 90-minute intensive class that will leave you with greater clarity and understanding of the interview process and a de-stressor designed to neutralize your negative emotions and help you maintain your job-search momentum.
Getting the Pulse on Novant Health offers you the opportunity to learn about Novant Health’s hiring culture from representatives form their talent acquisition and health and wellness teams. Covering topics such as the online application process and how to improve your chances of getting noticed, and even a look at healthcare jobs of the future, this workshop will give you the insight into Novant Health’s hiring practices unavailable anywhere else! In anticipation of this workshop’s popularity, we’ll host two sessions on Tuesday, November 12, at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Have you ever wondered what are the unspoken factors that determine why one person is hired and another isn’t? Ever wanted to know what was going on in the hiring manager’s mind and what information is relevant when deciding who to hire? The Right Fit will answer those questions and many others in an engaging and entertaining workshop that will teach you what makes a great interview and how to show up confident, qualified and certain that you were heard. Most importantly, you’ll know if that the place you are interviewing at is the right fit for you. Join us on Friday, November 15, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed when faced with a long-term job search. Most job-seekers experience times when their momentum fades or just plain disappears. This can bring on major stress, depression, anger and other negative emotions. Maintaining Your Momentum will show you practices and techniques to neutralize your negative emotions and maintain your job-search momentum. We hope to see you on Wednesday, November 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Those are just three examples of some of the great workshops available in November at Charlotte Works. We encourage you to register for and attend a variety of workshops every month. Each one will leave you with more knowledge, more confidence and more ability to land the job of your dreams!
HOW TO SCHEDULE A CHARLOTTE WORKS WORKSHOP:
- Log in to your NCWorks Online [links to www.ncworks.gov] account
- Go to the OTHER SERVICES tab
- Click on APPOINTMENT CENTER
- Choose EVENTS CALENDAR
- Click on SHOW FILTER CRITERIA and select “Charlotte Works Workforce Development Board”
- Click on FILTER. Choose your desired event (Workforce Act Information Session) and click on it. Confirm date & time and click on REGISTER at the bottom of the page.
