09 Sep UpSkill Charlotte: How Small Contracting Businesses Can Secure Funding for Employee Training
Charlotte Works is currently accepting applications for two special UpSkill Charlotte employee training grants. Both programs are designed for small contracting businesses with 250 or fewer employees to increase their capacity to compete for upcoming City and County contracts by providing short-term training and industry-recognized certifications for themselves and their existing workforce.
Skilled to Build (STB) UpSkill Charlotte Grant
The Skilled to Build (STB) UpSkill Charlotte Grant supports small businesses located within the City of Charlotte. The program is intended to help businesses become more competitive for future transportation and mobility projects, including the construction and improvement of roads, railways, sidewalks, bus and rail stops, and related infrastructure.
Eligible businesses may receive up to $5,000 for applications with one trainee or up to $10,000 for applications with two or more trainees.
Contractors Assistance Program (CAP) UpSkill Charlotte Grant
The Contractors Assistance Program (CAP) UpSkill Charlotte Grant supports small businesses located in Mecklenburg County. The program recognizes the critical role local contractors play in meeting the growing demand for skilled professionals who provide essential home repair services to low- and moderate-income homeowners.
Eligible trades and services include but are not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, carpentry, or any other skilled trades and home repair services.
This is a one-time award of up to $10,000.
Both grant programs invest in workforce development by supporting local businesses in their ability to secure valuable contracts and meet the needs of the community.
