Press Release: Seventh “Job Fair of the Carolinas” set for May 6th at Carowinds
In a regional job market, businesses recruit across county and state lines, and jobseekers travel across those same lines to find job opportunities. The greater Charlotte area is a prime example of a large regional job market where businesses and jobseekers flow back and forth seamlessly across those invisible lines. To meet the needs of this market, workforce system partners in North Carolina and South Carolina are again offering the “Job Fair of the Carolinas.” For the seventh time in five years, workforce professionals from SC Works and NCWorks are collaborating to present this job fair for the greater Charlotte region.
This in-person event is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, May 6, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., and is once again hosted by Carowinds. The event is open to the public. Veterans are welcome and may be identified with a special wristband they receive upon entry, so that employers can recognize their service. Students who are getting ready to graduate from either high school or college are also encouraged to attend the event, as this will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with employers who are hiring.
Employers and jobseekers will enter Carowinds through the North Gate, the main entrance, and proceed to The Grove. There is no cost for parking or to attend the job fair; it is a private event, and the park is closed with no attraction availability.
Events like Job Fair of the Carolinas provide opportunities for qualified candidates to meet with employers face-to-face and get their resumes noticed. Over 50 employers, including organizations from both sides of the state line, will participate in this job fair. Positions will be available in a variety of industry sectors, including advanced manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, logistics, finance, construction, hospitality, and entertainment. For jobseekers searching for public sector opportunities, various state and local government agencies will also be onsite.
For the past five years, Career Centers located in border counties along the North Carolina-South Carolina state line have partnered to carry out their mission to connect businesses to talent. Job Fair of the Carolinas is the premier event in the Charlotte region and is just one of the many ways that connection is being facilitated. NCWorks and SC Works will also have their mobile units on-site at Carowinds.
NCWorks and SC Works team members, along with partner agencies, will be on hand to offer guidance on how to successfully navigate the job fair. Staff can also provide information on employment and training services available through each state’s American Job Centers (called “NCWorks Career Centers” in North Carolina and “SC Works Centers” in South Carolina).
“NCWorks is pleased to collaborate once again with SC Works in offering Job Fair of the Carolinas; we are especially grateful for Carowinds, our venue partner, who has hosted the last few job fairs. At the event last year, we had over 750 participants who engaged with companies from North and South Carolina. This event is an excellent opportunity for jobseekers to connect to businesses who are hiring in the Charlotte region,” Ronne Grantham, NCWorks Regional Operations Director with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, said.
“Job Fair of the Carolinas is the premier event in region, where we focus on connecting qualified talent with employers from in-demand sectors who offer a variety of occupations,” Diana Goldwire, Assistant Executive Director for Employment Service with the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce, added. “The Job Fair of the Carolinas showcases the power of collaboration and the benefits of interstate partnerships. As a border location, Carowinds plays a vital role in strengthening both economies while providing employment opportunities for individuals at all stages of their careers – from teenagers entering the workforce to seasoned professionals with years of experience. We are proud and excited to return to this location each year to host the Job Fair of the Carolinas. With a growing number of employers participating annually, job seekers in North Carolina and South Carolina have access to a wealth of opportunities. Whether you need resume assistance, interview preparation, application support, or the chance to connect directly with employers from both states, this event is here to help you take the next step in your career.”
Job Fair of the Carolinas will bring employers and jobseekers together from across a five-county, two- state area: Mecklenburg and Gaston counties in North Carolina; along with Lancaster, Chester, and York counties in South Carolina.
Jobseekers can pre-register for the event and see a list of participating employers at https://scworks.org/job-fair-carolinas.
