18 Aug Are you a youth? Are you a business? Want to connect?
Charlotte Works’ Youth Works program is about to help make that happen with an online tool designed to connect Mecklenburg County students and employers to build a pipeline of qualified future employees.
Youth Business Connector (YBC) will serve the community as a clearinghouse of work-based learning opportunities for area youth, including those who are both in and out of school.
“Work-based learning expands the walls of the classroom by exposing students to a variety of industries and skills in ways that are not possible in the classroom alone,” says Danielle Frazier, Youth Works director. “Through career fairs, job-shadowing, internships, apprenticeships and other relevant career education, today’s students position themselves to become tomorrow’s skilled workers.”
YBC is the product of a collaboration among Charlotte Works, employers, schools and community organizations working together to build career-education partnerships in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.
The tool will be launched in mid-October. Stay tuned for more details!
