Develop a job- search marketing plan that will help you in prospecting, networking, interviewing and measuring your productivity, learning what tools to use in the process. Leave this session with a measurable plan feeling motivated and confident!

Leadership Today: Be the Standout Candidate at an Interview
Thursday, Feb. 20
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Whether you’re looking for a job as a titled leader/manager, or you just recognize that the demonstration of leadership wisdom can help you land the job you’re hoping for, join us! This session will focus on developing yourself as a leader through several exercises and discussions, emphasizing current critical leadership characteristics and personal branding. Pre-class assignment: bring a 30-second interview response to the question, “Tell me about yourself.”

This is a don’t-miss workshop! Gain valuable tools to help you navigate the complex hiring process to find a career, not just a job. Get coaching on all aspects of career development and job-search management including career transition, reentering the workforce, negotiating job offers and much more!

Strategic Networking

10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Networking is the single most powerful and important strategy in the job-search process. Research indicates that more than 70% of new positions are obtained through networking, yet many job-seekers don’t understand the process, how to do it well or why it works. Join us for a practical and lively presentation on how to build your professional network and leverage it in the job-search. Learn about the psychology of networking and overcoming common networking mistakes. Get tips on how to structure a networking meeting for maximum benefit.

a. Log in to your NCWorks Online account
b. Go to the OTHER SERVICES tab
c. Click on APPOINTMENT CENTER
d. Choose EVENTS CALENDAR
e. Click on SHOW FILTER CRITERIA. For LWIA/Region select “Charlotte Works Work Force Development Board.” For Office Location select “Charlotte/Mecklenburg Employment Engagement Center”
f. Click on FILTER
g. Choose your desired event and click on it. Confirm date & time and click on REGISTER at the bottom of the page
