Charlotte Works is fortunate to have recently expanded our team of talented workforce professionals to serve you better:

Jeff Adams advises clients every day in his role as career coach. He joins us from Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont, where he was a career development specialist. Adams brings more than 13 years’ experience in the nonprofit industry, providing case management, coaching and skills-development for adults and youth. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Buffalo State College in Buffalo, N.Y., and a master of science degree in counseling/psychology from the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Ala. Adams is also certified as a Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF).

Marlene Bishop, career coach, also joins us from Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont, where she served as a career development specialist at the South Boulevard JobLink. She comes to us with more than 20 years’ legal, administrative, academic and workforce development experience. Bishop holds a bachelor of science degree in individual and family studies from Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pa.; a juris doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of Law, in San Francisco, Calif.; and master of health administration degree from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, N.C. She is currently completing the GCDF certification.

Training Coordinator Andrew Davila guides clients through the Workforce Administration Act (WIA) Classroom Training process. He, too, worked at Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont at the South Boulevard JobLink as a career development specialist/training coordinator. Davila brings more than 10 years’ experience in workforce development, including stints at Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville, N.C., and the Saginaw Board of Education/Michigan Works in Saginaw, Mich. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.

Karen Johnson, training coordinator, also steers clients through the WIA Classroom Training maze. She has more than eight years’ workforce development and administrative experience, and joins Charlotte Works from the South Boulevard JobLink (Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont), where she served as a career development specialist. Johnson previously was a career development case manager at Crispus Attucks Center for Employment & Training in York, Pa. She attended Antioch University in Philadelphia, Pa. for business administration and earned a bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry from Chesapeake Bible College in Ridgeley, Md. Johnson is GCDF certified.

Debra Knight greets visitors to the Employer Engagement Center (EEC) in her role as receptionist. Formerly a Charlotte Works volunteer, she comes to us with more than 20 years’ experience in sales and customer service from organizations including Northwest Airlines, the National Basketball Association, Verizon and the New York City Department of Education. Knight holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Va.

With both youth and WIA experience, Anna London, youth program manager, will oversee our youth service providers to ensure compliance, offer technical assistance and training and development and assist with program innovation. She comes to Charlotte Works following five years with The Relatives. London has a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from UNC Charlotte.

As talent engagement manager, Wendy Lyons will oversee services to job-seekers at the EEC. With more than 14 years’ workforce development experience, prior to joining Charlotte Works, she served at The Harvest Center of Charlotte, Care Ring, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont and the Salvation Army Women’s Shelter. Lyons
earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Lincoln University in Lincoln University, Pa., and a master’s degree in public administration from Strayer University. She, too, is GCDF certified and has a coaching certification from Paradigm 360/Lifeforming Coach Training.
